Slipknot Announces Upcoming Collaborations

Sid Wilson, DJ of Slipknot, has been working with Limp Bizkit lead vocalist Fred Durst.

The two met in Australia at the Soundwave Festival and hit it off instantly.  Wilson spoke with NME.com to confirm rumors of their in-progress EP collaboration.

“Yeah, I’ve been hanging around with Fred,” he said.  “We did the Australian tour together and we just clicked instantly.  There was an instant connection when we got to talking.  I went out to Florida to hang out with him and we went into the Cash Money, Young Money studios together to work on new music.”

Limp Bizkit is working on a heavier new album, and Wilson said that his EP with Durst would share that heavy tone as well as some experimental styles.

“I don’t want to say too much, but it’s definitely part of this new, dirtier approach to music making I’m doing right now.  It’s great to work with Fred.  He understands the harder edge of the world that I’m into.”

Wilson is also collaborating with British rapper Professor Green, whom he also met at Soundwave.  He told Noise 11 that he grew up listening to music similar to Green’s and will enjoy the opportunity to get involved.

“I told him I was a total fan and I played his stuff all the time in my truck,” he said.  “I just said ‘let’s get down and work together.’ My family’s from England and I grew up on grime, jungle and drum’n’bass so it’ll be cool to work with someone who’s from that world.”

Wilson added some insight as to what their music would sound like.

“It’s going to have a DJ sound, but it’ll be dirtier and grimier, with more of a punk rock edge to it.  There’ll be some guitars maybe, but you’ll definitely have to have your ugly face on when you hear it.”
