Mark Hoppus Interacts with Fans in Reddit AMA

Mark Hoppus, the lead singer of rock band blink-182, went on Reddit this Monday to host his own "AMA" or Ask Me Anything interview with intrigued fans.

Fans were able to go online and ask the bass guitarist anything they wanted via Reddit post, and Hoppus started responding at 9 p.m. Some of the questions posed allowed Hoppus to open up about his feelings toward the band, certain songs and even his personal life. When asked his opinion on the "pop-punk" genre as a whole, he responded:

"I feel like it needs a kick in the ass. Something fresh and brave to shake it up. The whole thing feels safe and stale and formulaic. But that's just me."

The band's break-up and reunion were also addressed, with questions asking Hoppus about Tom DeLonge and Travis Barker, and how awkward things are now that they are back together.

"I'm glad to say it has been pretty smooth sailing since the band got back together, knock wood," he wrote. "I guess the most awkward thing that has happened has been the appearance of Tom's new hat-type thing. He calls it his goth pizza chef hat."

Some fans were even able to clear the air concerning the real meaning behind some of blink-182's songs, like "Fighting the Gravity," which was confused with being about Hoppus' hair.

"'Fighting the Gravity' is about a night a long time ago where someone put something in my drink," he said. "I had no idea what was happening and I thought I was dying."

Hoppus recapped on some of his most enjoyable moments with the group, including once when they were allowed inside Disneyland after hours and had the park to themselves. Although he "passed" on several questions asking about the group's previous drummer Scott Raynor, Hoppus did mention they haven't spoken in a "very long time."
