Hip-hop artist Kid Cudi posted on his blog Monday to help explain his actions at the Heatwave Music Festival in Australia this past weekend, where he trashed the stage he had been performing on.
During his show, Cudi's set was cut short due to a scheduling error, leading him to break lights and sound equipment in front of several fans. The Ohio native, appropriately also known as Mr. Rager, informed everyone on his Tumblr blog that the incident in Australia was not a temper tantrum.
"If my set is EVER cut short at any show, I'm trashing the stage," he said. "Not out of anger, it takes a lot to get me furious nowadays, but out of principle. The fans always deserve a full set at all shows, especially when they spend their hard earned money on expensive tickets."
Rapper Tech N9ne was also reportedly cut off during his set in the festival. However, he handled the situation a little differently than Cudi's reaction.
"A lot of artists wouldn't do what I did in Australia, but I will," he said. "Spread the word."
The rapper also warned that if he ever has the same problem at any future shows he plans on taking the chaos up a notch.
"No matter the circumstance, cut my set short, I'm breaking s--t," he said. "And next time I'm starting a riot. Me and my fans. Cause promoters will sometime take advantage of the artists, and you gotta let them know what time it is."
Outside of future concert shows, Cudi is releasing a new album called WZRD next month. WZRD is a joint album with producer Dot Da Genius, and has a 10-song track list, which Cudi just recently posted to his blog. He says "The Wizard" by heavy metal band Black Sabbath is what inspired him to create his upcoming project.
