Youth Lagoon Announces Young Magic Will Join Him on Tour This November

Fresh off his last tour, 22-year-old Trevor Powers will hit the road this Nov. to showcase his solo project Youth Lagoon.  It was just announced that this leg of the tour will include the electro-pop act Young Magic.

The tour kicks off on Nov. 1 in San Francisco at Bottom of the Hill, a venue known for featuring up and coming acts from around the world.  This month-long tour includes 19 shows throughout 12 different states and includes two stops in Canada.  Although this is their first time touring together, Youth Lagoon and Young Magic shared the New York Mercury Lounge stage not too long ago when Youth Lagoon made its NYC premier.

The concert will feature Powers’ first album The Year of Hibernation, which was just released Sept. 27 via Fat Possum Records.  It was around May of last year when the Boise, ID native had a speedy breakthrough into the music world after posting the single “July” on his Bandcamp page.  Since then he has given up everything to make this album and tour a reality.  Not only did Powers drop out of Boise State University to peruse his dream, but he also quit seeing his counselor in order to save money for studio time.  For Powers, creating music is cathartic and he hopes to bring his audience honest songs that they can relate to.

Young Magic just released "Night in the Ocean” from its second 7″ on Oct. 11.  The debut album is scheduled to be released in 2012.  Before touring with Youth Lagoon, Young Magic can be found at the CMJ Music Marathon & Film Festival at Public Assembly on Oct. 18.

American Express offered presale tickets to both NYC shows on Wednesday but general ticket sales open up Friday, Oct. 14.  With both of these up and coming names taking center stage, this will be a tour you don’t want to miss.
